High Wattage Facts For Wind Energy Tinkerers: While Condor
blades are extremely good at doing their job of low wind speed
charging do not expect huge leaps in power production on days
with extreme wind conditions. The pitch on the Condor inner
blades is formed only to maximum rotation for ultra low zone
1, 2 or 3 wind areas and they do this job extremely well in
conjunction with our SC120 PMA!
The best results ever achieved using a 88" set of 6 Ospray
blades was with a "Pancake Motor"
(Manta type. Extremely expensive).
This combination produced a solid 1500 Watts at 35 to 40 MPH!!!
Unfortunately pancake motors have not come down in price yet
as mass production seems to be loosing momentum at this present
point in time. A pancake motor produces incredible torque
at ultra low speeds that could be best described as "Almost
stalled speeds" perhaps? Many of our more adventurous
customers are successfully using high voltage DC motors like
the 90 VDC "Ametek" types and having good success
too. They don't tell us much else since they hope to be marketing
their inventions someday using our blades.
