This is a must have for nuclear prevention preperations. Also, don't forget to protect your electronics from EMP detonations in the atmosphere which will wipe out all electronics, cars, computers, and anything with a long elctrical cord - which is longer than about 6 inches. So tightly wind any cords up that cannot be removed from the device. Put them in metal garbage cans or metal box. You can have one made with 29 gauge metal by a metal shop or metal roofing company, or better yet, a vinyl siding installer - they use a metal bending machine on every job that they work on. Have spare compact fluorescent light bulbs, spare breakers for your AC power panel. To protect a computer, you will have to disconnect all of the wires in the back and front of the box, or hard drive box. Don't forget to disconnect the wires from your monitor !! Note: a nuclear explosion creates a EMP pulse that can destroy thousands of miles of coast land electronics and Power Grids. If one is exploded in the atmosphere near the center of the country, it will knock out mostly all of the US electronics and Power grids.

So, Solar panels, solar water heaters, solar water pumps, solar-hand water pump combination which will be your best source of water since you can hand pump the water till you know the threat of another strike is abated, then connect your solar panels up. Don't forget that you can also get water turbines for streams to produce power, and wind turbines. Batteries will be your only source of power storeage afterwards. To keep them charge you need to buy a high end battery charger with about 4 to 5 stage charging. Note: As long as you don't keep the the solar panels connected together, nor any cables longer than 6 inches to your power panel, and do not connect any wire to the inverters or any electronics like battery sensors, and digital displays, etc. Now of course you will need to hook everything up and run it for a little while to make sure there are no defects, and that you have enough wire, and the proper equipment components on hand, tested, and ready to install, or connect.
