      The output of the Eagle will vary depending on the state-of-charge of the battery. When the battery is drained the blades will be harder to turn because of the higher demand , or higher load, from the battery and therefore produces less power. But, as the battery gets charged, the Eagle can produce as much as 600 Watts or more depending on battery bank voltage & turbine voltage used and wind speed.

Design tips: If you are building a new system we highly recommend a 24v system if you want a battery back-up or Off-Grid system. If you are strictly building a grid tie system with battery backup, build a 48v battery system since converting 48v to 110v is more efficient, and wire size is half the size of 24v. Not sure? Go 24v. Or, you really only want Grid-Tie and will maybe buy 24 Volt appliances in the future, then go with a 48v system and when you get the 24v appliances also buy a DC to DC converter to go from 48v to 24v. If you stay with the same battery voltage then you won't loose 10% of your power through a converter. Note: DC Appliances use much less energy than AC. Also, you will loose about 10% of your produced power just going through a "high quality home" inverter and more with a cheap one. Stay 24v and you will loose no power through inverters and converters!

Note: Batteries require Amps to charge, voltage can be anything over the rated voltage of the battery. Higher voltage helps get the amperage into the battery to charge it if the battery is sulfated.. Voltage does not hurt the battery. If it is not sulfated then the voltage will automatically go down to necessary voltage to get the amperage through the battery based on the condition of the battery. Eagles produce unregulated D.C. voltage and must be connected to the battery through a DC breaker or direct to the battery. You will require a Diversion Load Controller and Diversion Load for battery banks that over charge - grid and off-grid applications - The SEA-50 unit is for small systems only since it cannot be voltage controlled. A batteries can take higher charging voltages during charge up but once they're full any additional charging power must be diverted away. Use our TriStar Controllers 45 & 60 Amp Model for precision voltage control which will connect to a diversion load to prevent over-charging of your batteries. Use the TriStar 45, or 60 amp as a diversion load controller and connect multiple loads to it. See our Inverters for Grid-Tie systems which will slow or spin your power meter backwards by putting the excess power back into the power grid via a battery bank.

The modern way to monitor your battery from over charging is to have a diversion load that performs a task such as heating water or heating air when your battery is in danger of over charging. Shutting down the output of your wind turbine (or Solar Panels) is old school thinking.

More Information

None of these wind turbines have charge controllers inside the PMA (Permanent Magnet Alternator). Eagles philosophy is to keep all the electronics easily accessible at ground level and as close to the battery or grid feeder as possible. Raising and lowering turbines is not a fun job so you'll want to put as few components as possible on the top of your tower. Having a charge controller 40 feet in the air is very inconvenient to adjust, monitor and service to say the least! Do it the right way and use the load diverting "DUMP LOAD" philosophy! NEED MORE POWER? - Install A Mini Wind Farm
Most people have an inherent pre-conceived notion that a property should have only ONE wind turbine.
It's puzzling to see people putting in 10 solar panels and ONLY one wind turbine and then wondering why the wind turbine puts out less power than their 10 solar panels. If you put in 10 Eagle wind generators and ONLY one solar panel then you would be wondering why the solar panel puts out less power. Having multiple wind turbines is not only a practical solution but an absolute necessity for creating low cost electrical energy. The inherent misconception of having only ONE wind turbine per property is a myth that has to be actively talked about and challenged.

Eagle's have broken a major pricing barrier and for the first time it makes sense to put up a mini wind farm instead of one mega wind turbine. Many people have decided to install as many as 20 to 30 Eagles for the same price of installing one big 10KW system. Mini wind farm advantages are many.

  • Can be placed closer to property lines. Great for small properties (Fall Zone Rule)
  • No expensive tower that can actually cost more than the wind turbine itself
  • Mini wind farms blend in with scenery and have a high acceptance rate from neighbors and community

(You need to be in an area that has good wind near ground level like high deserts, coastal or mountain passes) There are plenty of areas with good wind near or close to ground level. There is much talk of having very tall towers in the wind turbine industry but NOT every area requires this type of strategy. At the mfg's r facility for instance, it's difficult to remain standing on very windy days. There are millions of sites all over the world that have good low level wind characteristics just perfect for mini wind farms.

Warnings
PMA's are very polarity sensitive. Make sure you connect positive to positive when making your final battery connection!!! If you see sparks coming from the connector at the time of electrical hook up you may have the positive lead going to negative side of the battery. This may cause fires and burn out the coils in your PMA immediately.

Warning
Please note that these blades are very sharp and can cause severe injury if handled improperly. Treat these blades with the same respect you would have for a sharp sword.

These blade sets can turn at well over 2000 RPM on a windy day and can cause severe bodily injury when they are spinning. Use extreme caution! Never mount or work on a wind turbine on a windy day. Never place a turbine in any area that can be accessed by inexperienced persons or children. We assume no liability for ANY injuries caused by these products.
