Q.
Is there any reason why I can't wire my Wind Turbine
directly to my Water Heater Element? A.
The reason a Turbine can not be directly hooked
up to a water heater element WHICH must BE run AT ONLY 24 to 30 volts MAX for
a 24v element - If the turbine is in about 40 MPH winds a 24 volt Turbine will
actually be putting out about 80 volts and BOOM goes your heater element. Therefore
you MUST have a battery to buffer the wildly varying power & voltage output
of a wind turbine. Also,
when disconnected, the voltage spikes and anything that cannot handle high voltage
will be fried, including
charge controllers not designed to be connected
to wind turbines like a Xantrex C-40 for example - which will disconnect the turbine
from the battery when full if set up in "charge controller" mode, then
the controller gets a shock of "over voltage" than has that distinct
"failure" smell /smoke !

DC Water Heater Elements 1"
Male Iron Pipe Threads 300
watt units are capable of heating 15 gallons of water from 75 F. to 120 F. in
only 5 hours. (BATTERY CONNECT ONLY, read above) Note:
You should size your element 1.25 times more than expected load. Also remember
our EAGLE Turbines don't turn out of the wind in high winds !!

Most
electric hot water heaters have two element ports. One in the middle and one at
the bottom of the tank. Use your WH series element to replace the bottom 240 VAC
element so you always have hot water. If your battery is keeping your water hot
then the thermostat on the other 240 VAC element will never turn on unless you
run out of wind or solar power. A great diversion load for alternative energy
systems! Note: If you have a gas hot water heater you may wish to put
an electric unit ahead of it. This way the gas heater is always being feed hot
water so it does not turn on as often and for shorter periods of time when it
does. WARNING: If you
run these elements dry they will burn out and the seals will blow!!!!!! You
MUST always have them submerged in water when they are powered up!

2) Model
#T175 - 175 F. - $24.95
Opens circuit on overheat effectively cutting power to the heater (Normally
closed connects) Simple in line wiring system!!! Connections are 1/4"
spade terminals. The heat sensor (reverse side) must be firmly mounted on the
side of a non-insulated tank. Use 10 gauge wire minimum. for loop circuit Uses
a simple and typical "Loop" circuit to interrupt power to wiring harness
on overheat. Heat ratings are averages (+ or - 3%) |

Continuous Duty Solenoid - 400 Amp Rated
!! We sell only serious solenoids for
electricians serious about extreme dependability! |
#CDS12 - 12 to 15 Volt Solenoid - Only $49.95
#CDS24
- 24 to 30 Volt Solenoid - Only $49.95
Regulates
12 or 24 volt battery banks that are built from multiples of 6 or 12 volt sections.
The "CDS" series continuous duty solenoids are sold in non-grounded
insulated cases (lightning proof). Can be operated at 100% duty cycle conducting
loads up to 400 amps. These are not standard type automotive solenoids that can
only run for short durations before burning up but rather true industrial duty
models that are not bothered by heat, dirt or continuous ON time. Electrical contacts
are made of pure Silver alloy and can handle millions of cycles at very high amp
loads! - VERY ULTRA HIGH QUALITY UNITS!!!!!!!! (Primary
coil draws only 25 ma. Very energy efficient!!!) Sorry, No 48 Volt
Models Available But Many People Use Two CDS24's wired In Series To Achieve An
effective 48 Volt Relay. | |

Air Heating Diversion Loads
These resistive loads enclosed in vented aluminum boxes can be used in 12v, 24v and 48 volt diversion regulation systems. The aluminum box may get very hot in operation. It should be mounted at least 12” from any flammable material. The
HL-100 is shipped as a 4-ohm resistor and can be reconfigured as a 1, 0.5 or 0.25 ohm resistor
by easily changing connections in the terminal block.
The HL-75 is shipped as a 3-ohm resistor and can be reconfigured as a 0.75-ohm resistor by changing connections in the terminal block. See chart below for diverted amps at various voltages.
Warranty: 2 years. (Conduit knockout on top and vents on top also. Bottom is closed in.)
